Extended Learning Institute
Webinar Schedule
A webinar is a web-based seminar. Using the computer of your choice and an internet connection, you will be able to see the live presentation and listen in using your computer speakers. A microphone is not required as a text chat feature will be utilized during the webinars for participants to ask questions. All webinars are free; however, registration is required. Sessions are currently delivered via Blackboard Collaborate. You can test your connection ability ahead of time by visiting http://support.blackboardcollaborate.com and click on "First Time Users -- Blackboard Collaborate."
To register for a webinar, click on the title of a webinar listed below then click on the link with the date and time of interest and follow the instructions provided. After registering, you should receive a confirmation e-mail 24 to 48 hours prior to the webinar of interest that will include instructions for accessing the webinar. In general, webinar registration closes approximately 2 hours prior to the session start.

Have you ever been assigned a paper or project and don’t know where to start? Do you feel like you need extra practice for your assignments? Are you curious what library resources are available to you without going to a campus library? This 5 minute video will give you a brief introduction to what library resources are available to you as a distance learner. There might be more than you expect!
Conducting a Job Search
This 45 minute webinar will focus on basic strategies for conducting a job search. Topics covered will include creating a plan, identifying sources of job leads, and resume, cover letter, and interview basics.

This 45 minute webinar will focus on using various online resources to research career options. The relationship between programs of study at NOVA, college majors, and career options will be discussed. Resources presented will provide information on nature of work, educational requirements, job outlook, and wages.

Making Proactive Choices
This webinar is designed to provide concepts and strategies that promote an understanding of proactive and reactive choices and coping strategies that illustrate how to be more proactive in the face of unforeseen obstacles and multiple responsibilities. You will learn coping skills to help you minimize reactive responses to stressful situations and create successful outcomes as you approach unexpected stressors with proactive confidence.

Math Anxiety
Do you get anxious about taking math exams or get so nervous about math that you avoid math assignments altogether? Do you feel phobic at the mere thought of working a math problem? Join ELI Success Coaches for a 45 minute Math Anxiety Webinar that discusses causes of math anxiety and coping strategies to help you feel more confident about tackling math-related assignments and/or exams.
